As soon as you are approved for employment with BFC, you will be assigned a Training Manager. Your Training Manager is a seasoned professional who will work with you closely for the next 13 weeks or more, and help you develop the skills you need for success. This page will give you a good idea of what to expect. Please read it carefully and thoroughly before you apply for employment with BarrierFreeChoices.
YOUR "BASIC TRAINING" PERIOD:
Your initial training period is sort of like Boot Camp. To help hone your business communication skills to a fine edge, your Training Manager will work with you on an individualized basis at each phase of your training. After 2 to 4 weeks of formal preliminary training sessions, you will begin working. The next 13 weeks are a probationary period during which you will be required to report to your Training Manager at the beginning of each workday. You will learn to use Contact Management (or CRM) software to the best advantage; you will learn how to use the various business forms and documents that enable you to keep track of your business contacts efficiently; and you will be reporting to your Manager on a regular basis throughout your workday.
At the beginning of each work week, you are required to submit a weekly work schedule, specifying the days and times you plan to work during the coming week. Some flexibility is allowed in scheduling, as long as you can meet a minimum commitment of 20 hours a week during business hours.
You will be expected to adhere to the work schedule you set – and if there is going to be any deviation from that work commitment, you are required to notify your Manager in advance, by phone or e-mail.
At the end of each workday, you are required to submit a daily report by e-mail, using the form we provide. Your Training Manager will review each day's report with you on the following workday, at a mutually agreeable time.
DEVELOPING PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERTISE: As a BFC Team member, you will be the first point of contact many in the business community will have with BFC. Sometimes you may be their only contact.
Your job will be to provide business with the answers — and solutions — they need, to help increase their business potential with the disability community.
You won't have to learn everything there is to know about disability issues (nobody knows everything), but you will develop a good general knowledge of the basics, and learn how to find answers to questions our prospective advertisers may ask.
To answer their questions, you will become an expert on disability issues. You will be reading, studying, and researching. As you prepare to begin working, you will receive one-on-one training with one of our veteran Training Officers. INTENSIVE ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING: The primary objective of our training program is to help get you "up and running" and making money as quickly as possible. To help refine your comunication skills and get you off to a good start, your Manager will schedule several scripted role-playing sessions with you before we actually turn you loose on the public. Each of these sessions will last 1-2 hours on average, and generally there will be 2 to 3 such sessions.
Next, your Manager will schedule a series of intensive conference call sessions, during which you and your Manager will take turns making calls to real sales prospects. These calls will take place at each stage of the overall sales process.
This approach provides practical and effective training for you in a supportive real-world environment that provides instantaneous feedback, and is a proven method for ensuring success. Each such conference call session normally lasts 3-4 hours. During these sessions, you will earn full commission (and renewal rights) for any sales that are made, whether such sales are made by you or by your Training Manager.
You will have an ever-increasing degree of autonomy as your 13-week training period progresses, and by the end of that period, you should have developed the skills necessary to function without supervision on a day-to-day basis. However, your Training Manager or Team Leader will continue to work with you from time to time as necessary, and will be willing to schedule additional training sessions with you, should you need more help.
When you graduate from our "Boot Camp," you will be a consummate sales professional and a vital member of the BFC Team. You will have become a virtual Rambo on the front lines of commerce.
Are you ready?
